Steve Kerr’s Humorous Yet Honest Reaction

During a pre-game press conference, Kerr humorously described the Rockets’ court, which was painted a striking deep red, as resembling hell. He joked, “I told one of the coaches that it felt like I was descending into the depths of hell. Deep, deep red hue on the floor. It’s a little disconcerting. I thought I had been better in my life. I didn’t think I deserved that fate.” Kerr’s candid remarks drew laughs from the media and fans alike, highlighting his ability to inject humour into tense situations.

The NBA Cup Court Design

The NBA Cup tournament features unique court designs to create a visually striking and intense atmosphere for the games. The Rockets’ decision to use a bright red court with red seats was part of this effort. The goal was to make the venue feel like hostile territory for visiting teams, and Kerr’s reaction certainly underscored the success of this strategy.

Warriors’ Preparation and Mindset

Despite Kerr’s colourful description, the Warriors remained focused on advancing to the Las Vegas semifinals. Kerr mentioned that the team was “packed to go to Vegas” and ready to compete at a high level. The Warriors entered the game as the fifth seed in the Western Conference, holding a record of 14-9, while the Rockets were third with a record of 16-8.
