Sergio Perez Awaits Red Bull Future After Imola Setback
Sergio Pérez, the seasoned Mexican driver, finds himself at a crossroads as his current Red Bull contract approaches its conclusion in 2024. While Pérez has been a valuable asset to the team, recent rumors and uncertainties have cast a shadow over his future
Speaking to select media including Crash.net in Monaco, Perez said: “I think like I’ve said before, my main focus for this weekend isn’t on my contract. I know that negotiations are underway and at some point we will know and you will be the first ones to know.”
“It’s not like a percentage or anything like that, until you don’t sign it doesn’t matter how close you are. Nothing’s been signed yet, and anyway the focus right now is not on my contract, it’s mainly on this weekend.”
Sergio Perez’s current contract with Red Bull Racing expires at the end of the 2024 season. The team has reportedly offered him a one-year extension, but Pérez is pushing for the security of a two-year deal.
Pérez himself confirmed that “nothing’s been signed,” emphasizing the need to finalize his future soon. Pérez has had a strong start to the 2024 season, impressing both fans and team principal Christian Horner.
However, the pressure of having Max Verstappen as a teammate is undeniable. Pérez acknowledges that Verstappen’s exceptional talent pushes him to deliver flawless performances.
