Scottie Barnes’s Incident
The injury occurred during the third quarter of the game when Barnes attempted to block a shot by Karl-Anthony Towns. Barnes landed awkwardly on his right foot, clutching his ankle and writhing in pain. He could not put weight on his foot and was subsequently taken to the locker room for further evaluation.
Initial Diagnosis
Initial reports indicate that Barnes has suffered a right ankle sprain. X-rays were negative, ruling out a fracture, but the severity of the sprain is yet to be determined. The Raptors’ medical staff will continue to monitor Barnes’ condition, and he will undergo further imaging to assess the extent of the injury.
Impact on the Raptors
Barnes’ injury is a significant blow to the Raptors, who are already dealing with multiple injuries this season. Barnes had been playing exceptionally well since returning from an orbital bone fracture, averaging 23.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 9.1 assists over his past seven games. His absence will undoubtedly affect the team’s performance and their chances of making a playoff push.
