Undisputed super middleweight champion of the world Savannah Marshall has shaken up the boxing world by announcing a bombshell of a decision- to venture into mixed martial arts.
Marshall (13-1, 10 KO’s) has signed a multi-fight deal with the MMA promotion Professional Fighters League (PFL), joining the group of female boxing icons who have taken a similar path of venturing into mixed martial arts.
The British fighter has expressed her enthusiasm for this new stage in her career and has aside from making her ambitions in the cage clear, she also mentioned her desire to carry forward her rivalry with Claressa Shields, who is also a member of the PFL roster, from boxing into MMA.
“I couldn’t have missed the opportunity and the PFL is one of the most innovative sports organisations in the world and to be fighting alongside Kayla Harrison, Amanda Serrano, you’ve also got Jake Paul. It’s an incredible opportunity and I’m thrilled that the PFL wanted me to be a part of it,” Marshall told Sky Sports.
