Ryan Gosling Set To Join ‘Barbie’ Co-star Margot Robbie In Upcoming ‘Ocean’s’ Prequel

Hollywood actors Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, who have played the iconic dolls in Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie film which is due in theaters for the next year, might reunite stars again in the new Ocean’s film, as the latest reports reveal.

Warner Bros is viewing a 2023 production commence for the next entry into the Ocean’s franchise, according to Entertainment Weekly, which is yet not sanctioned officially. The details of the plot are still not known, but it is noted that Carrie Solomon penned the script. The unnamed prequel is set in 1960s Europe. It’s uncertain whether Robbie and Gosling would play friends or foes, but heist shenanigans are assured to develop.

The project is under “active development” according to The Hollywood Reporter, who reported the inclusion of Gosling into the movie, along with Variety and Puck. Along with 32-year-old Robbie the film will also be produced by her husband Tom Ackerly, Jay Roach who is set to direct the movie, as well as Michelle Graham via their banner Everyman Pictures.

The 2001 heist flick Ocean’s Eleven, based on the 1960 Rat Pack film, was directed by filmmaker Steven Soderbergh. Starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts, it stamped over 450M worldwide, and was followed by Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) and 2018’s female-centric Ocean’s 8.

The previous month, at the Los Angeles premiere of Gosling’s new Netflix action movie The Gray Man, the actor teased his excitement for the nearing comedy, in which he plays a live-action version of the iconic Ken doll.

When Gosling was approached by PEOPLE about his thoughts on the photo reveal of his character Ken, the 41-year-old bantered by saying that “the internet has been trying to break me for years. It gave me no other choice.”

“We’ve been having so much fun making this movie and it felt nice to see everyone else start having as much fun as we are. I can’t wait for the film to come out and for that to continue,” he added.
