Alex Pereira’s entry into the UFC was like an asteroid, and it seems that the impact has transcended into other disciplines outside of mixed martial arts, as boxing superstar Ryan Garcia sheds appraisal on the Brazilian.
Pereira, the reigning UFC Middleweight champion, is just days away from his rematch with Israel Adesanya. Taking account of their past duels in both MMA and kickboxing, “Poatan” is 3-0 over Izzy, and at UFC 281 last November, the Brazilian clinched the 185-pound belt from “Stylebender”.
Now, the two longtime rivals will battle it out again this Saturday night in the main event of UFC 287, with Pereira defending the Middleweight gold against Adesanya. One of the most anticipated middleweight fights of all time, Pereira vs. Adesanya 2 has also garnered the attention from Ryan Garcia.
He fights like a terminator: Ryan Garcia on Alex Pereira
The former interim WBC lightweight champ recently made an appearance Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVEÂ podcast, and speaking about the fight, Garcia lauded Pereira, not only addressing him as “scary”, but also saying that Pereira’s the only fighter he has seen throwing hooks as Garcia himself does.
“That’s gonna be huge,” Garcia commented on Pereira vs. Adesanya 2. “You know what’s crazy though? I’ve never seen somebody throw a hook like me, but Pereira does throw a hook like me. He throws it where you don’t really use your legs too much. You just, ‘Whack!'”
“That guy, he’s scary. I don’t even think I would even wanna be near this man. He’s just a destroyer… He fights like a terminator. It’s weird, bro. That dude, he’s something else,” King Ryan added. [H/T MMA News]
In the meantime, Garcia himself is preparing for the longtime coming grudge fight against WBA (Regular) lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, heading to the T-Mobile Arena on April 22nd. The bout will be at a catchweight of 136 lbs.
