Dale Earnhardt met an untimely end during a last-lap accident in the Daytona 500. His car, the famed No. 3, became a topic of discussion in NASCAR circles for decades to come. Fast forward to the present day, and the No. 3 car is now most consistently associated with Austin Dillon but unfortunately, they haven’t produced considerable results over the years.

Recently, Bob Pockrass shared a post on X revealing the changes in a team  “Justin Alexander will replace Keith Rodden as crew chief for Austin Dillon. Austin Dillon will also have a new engineer in Joel Keller. Former crew chief Keith Rodden to take a more organizational role.”

Keith Rodden served as Austin Dillon’s crew chief during the 2023 season. However, Richard Childress Racing recently made some changes ahead of this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway. Justin Alexander has replaced Keith Rodden as Dillon’s crew chief.

Interestingly, Alexander and Dillon have a history of working together. They previously collaborated in 2017, 2018, and from 2020 through 2022. Notably, all four of Dillon’s Cup Series victories came under Alexander’s guidance.

In the 2024 NASCAR season, Kyle Busch has faced some pit crew challenges that impacted his performance. Despite coming close to victory at the start of the season, he was narrowly beaten by Daniel Suarez at Atlanta Motor Speedway, losing by a mere 0.007 seconds. However, Busch remains in a strong position, currently sitting sixth in the point standings and having been the point leader going into Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

To address issues with pit stops, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has made significant changes to Busch’s pit crew ahead of the race weekend at Phoenix Raceway.
