On Thursday, the New York Knicks officially announced the signing of Diakite to a 10-day contract. The team’s PR statement read, “The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed forward Mamadi Diakite to a 10-day contract.” This move aims to bolster their roster during a critical stretch of the season.

@nbagleague announced on X (formerly Twitter): “NBA champion Mamadi Diakite is back in the Association! Congrats to the @wcknicks forward on earning a 10-day contract with the @nyknicks. He’s our 70th #NBACallUp of the season.”

Diakite’s NBA Journey

Diakite’s NBA journey has been eventful. He has played parts of three seasons for various teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and San Antonio Spurs. His career averages stand at 3.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, with a shooting percentage of 48.6% from the field. Notably, he was part of the Bucks’ 2021 NBA Championship-winning team, contributing to their victory over the Phoenix Suns

As for the Knicks, they currently hold the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 38-27 record in 65 games. Their recent form has been steady, going 5-5 in their last ten games. In their most recent outing, they convincingly defeated the Philadelphia 76ers with a score of 106-79.
