Five years after his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win with Niece Motorsports, Ross Chastain made a triumphant return to Darlington Raceway, fueled by determination and a thirst for victory. The rain-delayed Buckle Up South Carolina 200 provided the backdrop for an intense display of competition, strategic maneuvering, and a captivating overtime restart. When questioned about the overtime period on the track by Fox reporter Amanda Busick, Chastain, brimming with happiness, described the win as a transformative moment in both his career and life.

He expressed gratitude towards the team and the #45 team for their unwavering support and dedicated the win to his mother, as well as to the watermelon campaign he passionately supported throughout his career. Concluding with a heartfelt declaration, Chastain summed up the momentous occasion by exclaiming, “It’s so cool, we won Darlington.”

The two drivers were pushing hard, aiming to gain an advantage early in the race. However, on lap 2, disaster struck. Busch’s truck got loose while racing side-by-side with Heim, causing him to spin out of control. The rear end of his truck slammed into the wall off Turn 2, effectively ending his run for the day.
