Michael Jordan’s Sneakers From The 1998 NBA Finals Sold For Record $2.2 Million

The pair of sneakers Michael Jordan wore in the 1998 NBA Finals, which are also signed by the basketball legend, has fetched a whopping $2.2 Million selling price on Tuesday, making them the most valuable pair of all time.

The pair- called Air Jordan 13 “Black and Red” or “Breds” in short, were worn by Jordan during the second game of the 1998 Finals against UTah Jazz- which were his last season with the Chicago Bulls- also called the “Last Dance”.

Scoring 37 points in that game, Jordan led the Bulls to a 93-88 over the Jazz, marking his sixth NBA championship title as well as winning the 1998 Finals MVP.

Later, he gifted the sneakers to a Jazz ball boy, as a courtesy for finding a jacket that was lost, as per Sotheby’s.

The auctioneers also added that the pair have been photo matched and authenticated by the MeiGray Group, who are the official authenticator of the NBA.

The shoes broke the previous record of $1.8 million by a pair of Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy 1s, sold in 2021.
