Manny Pacquiao says he is willing to fight Gervonta “Tank” Davis at 147 pounds or even at a catchweight of 145 pounds.

Tank is explosive, but that is not a problem for me: Manny Pacquiao

The boxing legend, who is a former eight division world champion, was in Saudi Arabia last weekend to witness the fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou when he was approached by the press, and there they asked him what he thinks of Tank Davis.

“Gervonta Davis is a good fighter. He’s a good fighter, yeah,” Pacquiao said in an interview for Fight Hub TV.

And when they asked him if he would be willing to fight Davis, the Filipino legend surprised with his answer.

“If he comes up to 147, we can fight – 145, maybe,” said Pacquiao, indicating that he would also be open to a catchweight contest.

Pacquiao was also asked if he has any reservations about the explosiveness that Tank Davis has shown in his fights. But the Filipino responded again with complete confidence.

“He is explosive, but that is not a problem for me,” Pacquiao added. “I am an experienced fighter.”

The maximum weight Gervonta Davis has fought at was 139.7 pounds when he faced Mario Barrios for the WBA super lightweight title in 2021. Since then, Tank has kept his fights below 135 pounds.

Pacquiao proposed Gervonta a catchweight of 145 pounds, which was a weight that the Filipino made in 2019 when he faced Keith Thurman and registered 145.5 pounds on the scale. He hasn’t fought under 140 pounds since 2009, when he knocked out Ricky Hatton.
