Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’s domination over the racing world is coming to an end, so is claimed by Former Formula 1 driver Eddie Irvine. Lewis Hamilton is currently on a bad run of form, he went winless since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021. Lewis Hamilton didn’t get his hands on a world title since 2020 and to make matters worse he finished the 2023 season winless which was Mercedes’ first winless season since 2011. On the other hand, Max Verstappen and Redbull are on a dream run, they have been dominating the sport and have won a couple of world championships since 2020.
Eddie Irvine goes all guns blazing on Lewis Hamilton
However some belief in the fact that Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’ time at the top is coming to an end. Runner-up in the 1999 F1 world championship, Eddie Irvine is one of them.
“The era of Hamilton and Mercedes’ triumphs is now over,” Irvine told to reporters.
“But Lewis is still a very good driver, very goal-oriented, and willing to get results. He is still doing a great job behind the wheel of an F1 car even if the comparison with Verstappen is tough, because Max is younger, has a bit more speed and a huge belief in his own means.

“Hamilton’s prospects will depend on how competitive Mercedes will be in 2024. If Toto Wolff’s team returns to a fast car, then Lewis could certainly win one or more races, something he has failed to do in the last two seasons.”
” However, I doubt that he will be able to take the Championship again and realise his dream of winning an eighth title.”
Can Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes upset Red Bull in 2024?
Mercedes struggled since the change in regulations in 2022 but this year with their all-new machine, Lewis Hamilton will be fancying that eighth championship title.
Fans know Hamilton has nothing more to prove after his illustrious career but he wants to go for glory one last time before he switches the engine off.
Hamilton will be looking to settle the score with Red Bull and Max Verstappen in 2024 with Mercedes’ new W15 Challenger. Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes will be eying to get back where they belong and snatch the World Championship from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
