Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has sparked excitement and speculation. But what if he had the chance to collaborate with the legendary designer Adrian Newey? Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, doesn’t mince words.

When asked about the possibility of working with Newey at Ferrari, he responded unequivocally: “If I were to do a list of people I would love to work with, he would absolutely be at the top of it.” Hamilton recognizes Newey’s genius and the privilege it would be to collaborate with him.

Adrian Newey, often dubbed the “Aero Whisperer,” is a mastermind behind some of the most iconic Formula 1 cars. His designs have sliced through the air, danced with physics, and clinched championships. During his nearly two-decade tenure at Red Bull Racing, Newey’s cars secured seven drivers’ titles and six constructors’ championships. Now, as he bids farewell to Red Bull, the question arises: Could he join Ferrari?

Who will replace Lewis Hamilton in Mercedes for 2025?

  1. Carlos Sainz: A direct swap with Lewis Hamilton could be on the cards. Sainz, who currently drives for Ferrari, has proven himself as a top driver. Notably, he was the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race in 2023 and has continued to perform well this season. His experience with big teams, including McLaren, adds to his appeal. However, Sainz is also tipped to join Sauber (which will become Audi) in 2026.
  2. Alex Albon: Albon, after a stint with Red Bull, found his groove at Williams in 2022. He has consistently outperformed his teammates and could be ready for the next step. Albon is currently signed with Williams until the end of 2025, but his connection with Mercedes team principal James Vowles might facilitate a move.
  3. Kimi Antonelli: Replacing a seven-time world champion with a teenager would be bold, but F1 thrives on surprises. Antonelli, a Mercedes junior, is making his F2 debut with Prema this season. The Silver Arrows rate the 17-year-old highly, with comparisons to Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. If Antonelli impresses in F2, Mercedes could face an exciting decision.
