Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson becomes the 11th player in NFL history to win the MVP award more than one time. Patrick Mahomes, Joe Montana, Kurt Warner, and Steve Young are the only players besides Lamar Jackson who have taken the award home a couple of times. Lamar Jackson bagged his first MVP award in 2019 and won it for a second time this season.
“I want to thank my organization, the Baltimore Ravens, for finally getting a deal done,” Jackson said in his acceptance speech, making the crowd at the NFL Awards erupt in laughter.”
Lamar Jackson finished the season with 4,499 total yards, 29 total touchdowns, and 7 interceptions but still some fans label him as unworthy to be declared as the Most Valuable Player this season. The Ravens finished as the top seed in the AFC North with 13 wins and 4 losses and impressive performances on away turfs.
Lamar Jackson opened up that his intention of playing in the Super Bowl is more than it is of attending the award function the 27-year old Quarterback said.Â
“Just to get this award, to be here for the award is the honor. I’d rather play in the Super Bowl than accept the award.”
Though Jackson’s contribution to the Baltimore Ravens this season has been unparalleled many fans think Dak Prescott or Josh Allen could have been better choices.
Fans react to Lamar Jackson winning the MVP award
Fans expressed their views on Lamar Jackson being named the MVP for the second time
“Most fraudulent 2x MVP ever. this was Josh Allen’s award” One fan expressed his agitation on Jackson getting named the NFL MVP on X (previously Twitter )
“Most undeserving mvp in nfl history” another fan spoke his mind on Twitter.
“How is someone MVP when they are not ranked top 5 in their position? every passing one of course, but also Total TDs, and even rushing TDs isn’t the best. He does have the most rushing yards as a QB but that’s about all I really found that he’s in the top 3 for.” another fan added.
Fans couldn’t agree with the decision to hand Lamar Jackson the MVP award and are showering down on him with criticisms and trolls.
