Kevin Durant’s response to Bradley Beal’s goodbye post was noteworthy

Must read

Bradley Beal is getting a fresh start after two disappointing seasons with the Phoenix Suns, and it does not seem like he is experiencing many feelings of nostalgia on his way out the door.

Beal is set to sign a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers after he reached a buyout agreement with the Suns on Wednesday. The 32-year-old took to social media on Thursday to share some photos from his time in Phoenix.

Rather than captioning the Instagram post with a long, emotional expression of gratitude, Beal simply posted a peace sign emoji.

The emoji was widely perceived as a jab at the Suns. It appeared to be confirmed by Durant’s and other NBA players’ responses. Both Durant and Miami Heat player Bam Adebayo used the smiling face emoji in their responses to Beal’s post. Reactions were similar for former Suns point guard Tyus Jones and Trae Young.

It would hardly be a surprise if Beal viewed his time in Phoenix as forgettable. The Suns were swept in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves last year, and they finished 36-46 and missed the playoffs this past season.

Beal battled injuries in Phoenix and appeared in just 53 games in each of the past two seasons.

It is possible that Beal could give the Suns a more formal “farewell” at some point, as Durant did after he was traded to the Houston Rockets. For now, the reactions to his post look like confirmation that Beal couldn’t wait to get out of Phoenix.
