Jermell Charlo, one-half of the revered Charlo twins, has been crowned as boxing’s undisputed super welterweight (light middleweight) champion of the world with a brutal knockout of Brian Castano in their rematch which took place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California this Saturday night.

With their first encounter back in July last year ending in a split decision draw, both fighters were fueled with a shot at the four belt title at 154, with Charlo putting up his WBC, WBA (Super) and IBF titles on the line against Castano’s WBO belt.

Right from the start, Charlo had the upper hand, with powerful knocks mixed in with impeccable footwork. Castano, on the other hand, did have his moments but “Iron Man” was always a step ahead of “El Boxi” throughout the fight.

The fight reached its dramatic conclusion in the 10th round. With a short left hook, Charlo dropped Castano to the canvas. The Argentine was able to beat the countdown and get up, only to be treated with a brutal uppercut and a left hook to the body from Charlo, securing the stoppage.
