Jaylen Brown, a former All-Star, unexpectedly calls Jayson Tatum

Must read

Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics is unlikely to appreciate the most recent Jeff Teague podcast edition.

When Brown attempted to call five different Celtics teammates during a livestream last week, he became the target of criticism on the internet. Even Jayson Tatum, his All-Star running companion, did not pick up. Social media fans made fun of Brown for either not being well-liked in the locker room or, at the very least, not being the type of guy you want to talk to on the phone.

In a recent installment of his podcast, “Club 520,” Teague put the test to the test himself. His run didn’t start out well because Josh Okogie, Georges Niang, and former teammate PJ Tucker all ignored his calls. On the second attempt, however, Teague was able to get Niang to pick up, and John Lucas III also gave him a callback.

When Teague, who was a member of the Celtics during the 2020–21 season, called Tatum, it was the real test. After a couple rings, Tatum answered.

“Oh, we lit! I was the better teammate!” Teague joked after his brief conversation with Tatum.

In all fairness to Brown, Teague made his calls in the late morning. The Celtics swingman’s live stream happened late at night.

Brown also claimed that he had changed his phone number, which may have discouraged his teammates from picking up. But seeing Tatum pick up for a one-year Celtic like Teague must probably still sting for Brown.
