American singer and rapper Javorius Tykies Scott aka JayDaYoungan and a family member were reportedly shot in his home state of Louisiana on the night of Wednesday, 27th.
JayDaYoungan was rushed to hospital where he passed away
The 24-year-old singer was taken to a local hospital in Bogalusa by helicopter where he was announced dead, according to a statement from Bogalusa Police Department. Sources close to the situation claimed he was not respiring when the emergency respondents came to the location.
The shooting has taken place just a month after JayDaYoungan, who leaves behind a son, was released from jail for gun-related charges. Another victim who was a family member of the rapper was also severely injured. An official statement from the Bogalusa Police Department on Facebook reported the second victim was most probably the rapper’s father.
“We can now identify the victims as Javorius Scott, A.K.A. JayDaYoungan and close family member Kenyatta Scott Sr,” the Facebook post read, “We can also confirm that Javorius Scott has died as a result of his injuries. Kenyatta Scott Sr. has been transported to another facility and we have been told he is in stable condition. Detectives are currently conducting interviews and working leads. Further information will follow as it becomes available.”
The Law enforcement officers stated that another shooting took place after the incident of JDY, in which a vehicle was obstructed. Cops possibly believe both the shootings are linked, though no one was harmed in that shooting.
“This is a very fluid situation. Our officers are working diligently to identify the subjects responsible for these crimes,” the police statement added.
The 23 Island singer got success in 2017 by signing the Atlantic Records and followed to procure the same stably with his mixtapes. The rapper has also worked with artists like Latto, Moneybagg yo, Lil Durk, and Boosie Badazz.
Back in 2017, the rapper signed a music deal with Atlantic Records and rose to fame with hit singles like Spinning and Taking Off. His Forever 23 as well as first official studio effort Baby23 both charted on Billboard and in June last year, he released his debut album 23 Is Back. JayDaYoungan currently has over 1.2 million subscribers on his official YouTube channel ahd his Instagram account has 2.7 million followers.
