Details of the Injury

The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of the game when Jared McCain attempted to rebound his own miss and lost his footing, landing on his back on the hardwood. He remained down on the court for several minutes, coughing and struggling to catch his breath before eventually being helped off the court. McCain was taken to the hospital for evaluation and was later diagnosed with pulmonary contusions, which are essentially bruises on the lungs.

Immediate Aftermath and Hospital Visit

After the fall, McCain was immediately taken to the hospital for further evaluation. The medical team conducted a thorough examination to rule out any serious injuries, particularly a concussion. Fortunately, Jared McCain was discharged from the hospital the same night and is now resting at home.

Re-evaluation and Concussion Concerns

McCain will undergo re-evaluation today to check for any signs of a concussion. While there is optimism that he avoided a serious injury, the medical team will continue to monitor his condition closely. The 76ers have stated that McCain will not play in Friday’s preseason finale against the Orlando Magic and will be evaluated daily to ensure his full recovery.
