In a recent Tweet of ‘Desi Racing XCo.’ Lando said, “But we know the issues, we know what we have to improve and if we can improve them, I think Andrea is right – we can win races this year and we can be competitive with these other two teams ahead of us.”
McLaren’s Challenges
McLaren faced a significant decline after their last title challenge in 2012. Operational errors, reliability issues, and organizational weaknesses contributed to this decline.
The team committed to deep “cultural changes.” Technical director James Key emphasized openness and removing blame cultures. The team aimed to foster mature and open discussions to tackle issues effectively. This cultural shift allowed people to freely address problems, leading to improvements in communication and problem-solving.
McLaren’s 2022 car had two key weaknesses affecting its performance. Technical director James Key acknowledged these issues and emphasized the need for improvements.
Team Principal Andrea Stella believes McLaren can think about winning races in 2024. If they continue delivering developments like those seen in Japan, they could challenge Ferrari. Despite the challenges, McLaren’s upward trajectory suggests that their wait for a competitive car may finally be nearing its end.
