He had worked for Providence College for seven years as an assistant coach before that.
Thomas’s knowledge of the area makes him an interesting hire. Thomas, who was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, which is within thirty minutes from Hampton University’s campus, provides invaluable local ties. He was the head coach at Kecoughtan High School in Hampton before when he led the team to a 127-60 record and two district championships. His background as the head coach of the Boo Williams 17U AAU club enhances his ability to recruit.
