Last year William Byron missed the championship title despite winning six races of the season which marked the most race wins for any Hendrick driver. William Byron similarly started off the 204 season and continued his momentum.

Rick Hendrick, the owner of Hendrick Motorsports, has been vocal about his admiration for William Byron, one of the talented drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series. Mr Hendrick highlighted the talent of a young driver and pointed out his short-tack racing skills Mr Hendrick claimed William is even more talented than people think and that’s now no strange to anyone after the results in 2024 so far.
Mr Hendrick started his conversation with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio by saying, “He’s just getting better and better and better.”
Mr Hendrick on William Byron’s long-awaited Daytona win
In the 2024 Daytona 500, William Byron secured a thrilling victory, narrowly beating his teammate Alex Bowman. This triumph marked a significant achievement for Hendrick Motorsports, as it was their first Daytona 500 win since Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 2014.
“But I’m in awe of how hard it is to win this race. I’m just so happy for [William Byron] and [Rudy Fugle] and the organization and to see [Alex Bowman] finish second. That was great,” Mr Hendrick said.
Hendrick expressed his excitement about winning this prestigious race, emphasizing how challenging it is to emerge victorious. He also mentioned the exhilaration of participating in NASCAR and tying the all-time record for wins in the Daytona 500. The flyover during the event added to the excitement.
