Hailie Deegan, the Xfinity Series driver, is paying homage to the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr. with a special throwback paint scheme. She revealed a yellow paint scheme for her Airbox-sponsored Ford car, which harkens back to a yellow Ford Thunderbird that Earnhardt drove in 1982.

The design is a tribute to the iconic car from over 40 years ago, even though Deegan herself wasn’t around during that time. Her father was roughly 10 years old when Earnhardt Sr. raced that Wrangler-sponsored yellow car. Despite not having the firsthand experience, Deegan is excited about the throwback look and hopes for a successful race at Darlington Raceway during NASCAR’s throwback weekend.
Revealing the reason behind the paint scheme choice, Hailie expressed that her team owner presented several different paint schemes, and among them, the one featuring the number 15 appealed to her the most. Consequently, she decided to choose that particular scheme for her car.
