Denny Hamlin’s Crew Chief “Proud of the Way We Won” Amid the Controversial Action of #11

For the third consecutive spring, Martin Truex Jr. found himself in a prime position to secure victory at Richmond Raceway. However, in a surprising overtime finish, Denny Hamlin snatched the win from his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate.

Joey Logano secured second place, while Truex slipped to fourth. After the late restart, Hamlin’s crew snatched the lead, and the subsequent restart raised the eyebrows of #19 team but the crew chief of #11 had something different to offer.

Amid the controversy and questions against Denny Hamlin on his late move, talking with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Chris Gabehart shared his feeling when the #11 team made a lightning speed fast 9-second pitstop which gained the lead for Denny Hamlin.

Chris shared about his strategy while Denny Hamlin was third behind Logano and suddenly the way caution came out and Chris was proud of the way his team made the last-minute strategy which helped them to win a race and 53rd victory in NASCAR of Denny Hamlin.

Truex slammed Denny Hamlin in frustration

In previous races, Truex narrowly missed wins due to late pit stops and tire disadvantages. Truex, seething with frustration, retaliated against Larson—a rare moment of general vengeance. Even after the race Truex went down toward Denny Hamlin and slammed the #11 car’s rear bumper three times to express his frustration.

Talking with FOX Truex said, “It’s unfortunate. Unfortunately, this has happened a few times over the years. Just got beat out of the pits and then, I don’t know. He (Hamlin) jumped the start and used me up in Turn 1.”
