Details of the Arrest
West was accused of refusing to leave a restricted area in Huntington, Virginia, on November 1, 2024. The property owner reported the incident, and police corroborated the claim with surveillance footage before issuing an arrest warrant. West was found walking near the Huntington Metro on November 2 and was arrested and held on a $1,000 bond. He was released from custody the following day after being charged with a misdemeanor and is due in court in January 2025.
West’s Legal Troubles
This recent arrest is just the latest in a series of legal issues for West since the end of his NBA career. In June 2024, West was arrested in Groveton, Virginia, on charges of violating the conditions of his release and resisting arrest. During that incident, he fled from police and was found unresponsive, requiring the administration of Narcan to revive him. West has also faced multiple other charges over the years, including resisting arrest, disorderly intoxication, and trespassing.
Delonte West’s NBA Career and Post-Retirement Struggles
Delonte West played eight seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks. He earned over $16 million during his career but has struggled with legal and personal issues since retiring in 2012. In 2021, former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban helped West get treatment at a drug rehabilitation facility in Florida. Despite these efforts, West has continued to face challenges, including a recent viral video showing him in a distressed state outside a convenience store.
