However, as Bob probed further, Hamlin’s tone shifted to one of regret. He admitted that he should have kept the conversation personal and acknowledged the frustration that fueled their exchange.

The spark for this online brawl came when Hamlin responded to a photo shared by NASCAR on Reddit. The photo showcased the newly repaved track surface at Sonoma Raceway, which had issues at Turn 11. Hamlin’s scathing review of Smith’s company read, “When paving on a budget goes wrong, NWB will be next”.

Despite the heated exchange, both Hamlin and Smith later acknowledged that their personal attacks went too far. They ultimately made peace, with Smith extending an olive branch and Hamlin reciprocating the sentiment. Sometimes even in the fast-paced world of racing, tempers flare, but reconciliation prevails.
