The NFL buzz mill is humming as the 2024 free agency season approaches, and the Chicago Bears are likely to be involved in the running back market. According to a tweet from @nflrums, the Bears are interested in veteran running back Josh Jacobs, who will become a free agency once his contract with the Las Vegas Raiders expires.

@nflrums Tweeted,
“The Chicago Bears are expected to have interest in Las Vegas Raiders FA RB Josh Jacobs.”

During a recent episode of The Chicago Bears Podcast, former Bears fullback Jason McKie revealed an intriguing piece of information. He disclosed that the Bears and Josh Jacobs have a “mutual interest” in the forthcoming 2024 free agency. McKie’s legitimacy comes from his source, Jacobs’ agent, Chad Wiestling of Black Label Sports. According to McKie, Jacobs himself would like to wear the classic Bears uniform.

Joshua Jacobs , at 26, is a formidable opponent. In 2022, he led the NFL in rushing yards with an amazing 1,653 yards and he is also a talented running back who can run past defenses as well as catch passes out of the backfield. His career has been a rollercoaster, but his promise is apparent.

Chicago Bears’ Running Back Room

The Bears already have a promising running back room. Khalil Herbert, a rising star, leads the group. Alongside him are Roschon Johnson, a fourth-round pick in 2023, and Travis Homer, a special teams star. However, whispers suggest that the Bears may seek an upgrade. Could Jacobs be the missing piece?

Jacobs’ expected contract is roughly $11 million each season, according to Pro Football Focus. In the free market, he can expect to earn $33 million over three years. The Bears have the financial strength to finance him, but the question remains: how deep is their interest?

A backfield Symphony

Imagine Jacobs slithering between Soldier Field’s barriers. His explosive runs, mixed with Herbert’s elegance, might result in a symphony in the Bears’ backfield. As the legal tampering time approaches, fans hold their breath. Will Josh Jacobs wear navy and orange? Only time will tell.
