Canelo Alvarez thinks that David Benavidez talks a lot and that is why the fight has not materialized.

There are many names across the divisions who would want a showdown with the undisputed super middleweight champion and one of those names are the former WBC champ at 168, David Benavidez.
Canelo participated in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament that is taking place these days in Nevada. And there, the Mexican fighter broke the silence in a brief interview with SportsRadio810 where he talked about David Benavidez and also talked about Jermell Charlo- his upcoming opponent.
Despite Benavidez making several callouts to Canelo for a fight, there has been no green signal on the latter’s part, and during the interview, Canelo revealed the reason- Benavidez talks too much.
“Yeah, why not? Maybe in the future. He talks too much; that’s not the way to make a fight. I don’t pay attention. I do my thing. Just watch, watch my career, watch his career. I’ve done a lot in boxing,” said Canelo.
However, despite the annoyance with the way Benavidez and his team have spoken, Canelo does not completely close the door on a fight with him.
“I never thought about it. They said that the other Charlo was not ready and that they wanted [Jermell] Charlo. I said, ‘Okay, bring whatever, I don’t care,’” he added. [H/T Boxing News 24]
In recent days, José Benavidez Sr, David’s father and trainer, apologized to Canelo for having said things in interviews. He claims that he only did it to try to make the fight happen.
“I want to publicly apologize to Canelo because he led me to say some things to see if he would cheer up that way,” Benavidez Sr told the Hay Tiro channel on YouTube. “But I’m not like that, the truth is that I’m not going to lend myself to those things of saying things that shouldn’t be said.”
