Brandon Ingram, a former No. 2 overall pick, has been a key player for the Pelicans. Last regular season, he averaged an impressive 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game. However, his postseason performance dipped significantly, with just 14.3 points per game as the Pelicans were swept in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Contract Extension Woes

The Pelicans’ reluctance to meet Ingram’s contract extension demands has fueled trade speculation. Ingram’s camp had hoped for favorable terms, but negotiations hit a roadblock. As a result, both sides are now exploring alternative options. Ingram’s expiring contract for the 2024-25 season, valued at over $36 million, makes him an attractive trade asset.

Sacramento Kings in the Mix

The Sacramento Kings have emerged as potential suitors for Ingram. Recent reports indicate that the Kings have explored the feasibility of trading for him. Kevin Huerter and Harrison Barnes are reportedly part of the package being considered by the Kings. Sacramento’s front office has ties to Ingram through Kings executive Alvin Gentry, who coached Ingram during his breakout All-Star campaign in 2019-20.
