Arrow McLaren, the renowned IndyCar team, has officially announced the release of driver David Malukas from his 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES contract. Malukas, hailing from Chicago, joined the team after the 2023 season but unfortunately never had the opportunity to compete for Arrow McLaren due to an injured left wrist sustained in a mountain biking accident on February 11. As a result of this injury, which required surgical repairs, Malukas remained unavailable for the entirety of the 2024 season to date.

Arrow McLaren’s official statement cited the reason for Malukas’ release: “due to him being unavailable for the entirety of the season to date, with no confirmed return date, as a result of a left wrist injury.” The team is currently finalizing driver assignments for the remainder of the 2024 season and will announce drivers for its No. 6 Chevrolet in upcoming races “in due course.”
The Injury and Unforeseen Challenges of David Malukas
David Malukas’ left wrist injury significantly impacted his ability to participate in the racing season. Despite his best efforts to expedite the recovery process through treatments, physiotherapy, and strength training, the healing process took longer than anticipated.
In his own words, David Malukas expressed regret that his time with Arrow McLaren did not materialize as he had hoped. He stated, “I felt privileged to have had the opportunity to drive for Arrow McLaren and regret that it never materialized. I would have loved to have continued representing the team and its partners going forward.”
