Former unified heavyweight world champion Andy Ruiz Jr acknowledges that even though because of his physique he is always criticized and seen as the underdog in his fights, if Deontay Wilder thinks the same, he wants to find him in the ring to humiliate him.
That’s what everybody says until they meet me inside the ring: Andy Ruiz Jr
A heavyweight contest between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr was ordered by the WBC as a title eliminator, but the two sides have not reached an agreement.
In the meantime, Wilder threw some shade at Ruiz during a recent interview with ES News.
“What do we see in Andy? A fat, short fighter with small hands that make him look fast, like a tyrannosaurus rex. The only reason they want the fight is to see how fast I can knock him out,” said Wilder.
In his response, Ruiz said that the thought Wilder has about him would change when the two meet in the ring.
“You’re talking about how I’m fat, I’ve got short arms. That’s what everybody thinks, that’s what everybody says until they meet me inside the ring,” Ruiz said in a video posted on his Instagram.
“The Destroyer” came as the underdog against Anthony Joshua the day he took three heavyweight titles from the Englishman, and if he fights Wilder, Ruiz assures that he will humiliate him.
“Guess what? This f***ing fat, chubby kid is about to humble your f***ing ass down. Let’s get it baby, come on,” he added.
A few days ago Ruiz’s father Andrés Ruiz, revealed that Wilder’s team wanted to offer a 70-30 split in favor of the former WBC champion, but Andy and his team would only accept a 50-50.
Wilder said that an equal distribution was not possible, and asked Andy Ruiz to remove his father from the negotiations, but the Mexican boxer defended Andrés and said that all he does is defend his son.
“Why are you angry? Just because my dad is trying to take care of me? What wants the best for me? Trying to get me all the money he can?” Andy asked Wilder. “Come on man, there’s no reason to be so angry.”.
