How far could Shedeur Sanders fall if the New York Giants do not take him at No. 3? One intriguing team may save him from dropping out of the top ten in that scenario.
The New Orleans Saints have been repeatedly linked to quarterbacks, and new reports suggest they could be in play for Sanders if he falls to them at No. 9. In an appearance on “SportsCenter” Saturday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler noted that there are some teams that do not even have a first-round grade on Sanders, which could lead to him falling in the draft.
Fowler added, however, that the Saints could be a landing spot for Sanders at No. 9, as they have been doing their homework on quarterbacks.
Nick Underhill of New Orleans supported this. Football. The relationship between the Saints and starting quarterback Derek Carr “is tenuous at best,” according to Underhill, who stated on Friday that Carr was even considering a move until the two parties renegotiated his deal earlier this month.
“The Saints are very, very much in the quarterback business right now, and they should be,” Underhill said. “The Saints need to be looking for possible long-term answers. That might be in the first round if the right value is there.”
Although Underhill doesn’t specifically name Sanders, it is safe to assume that if he is on the board, he may be a possibility for them at No. 9.
For this to even be a possibility, Sanders would need to pass the Giants at No. 3, and that is by no means guaranteed. But if they do search elsewhere, Sanders might fall far, and the Saints might have a shot. It’s unclear if they would take him, but it seems likely that they would at least think about it.
Sanders completed 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns at Colorado last season. He is regarded as the second-best quarterback in the draft, albeit in a weak positional class.
