Freddie Freeman will ultimately lose more time as a result of his current decline.
Due to a problem with his right ankle, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ top first baseman, Freeman, was placed on the injured list on Thursday. With effect from March 31, Freeman will be placed on the 10-day IL.
Freeman, 35, has missed the Dodgers’ last three games and counting. Freeman slipped while attempting to get into the shower and ended up twitching his surgically healed ankle, which made the incident’s circumstances somewhat embarrassing as well. Freeman gave reporters a detailed account of the injury earlier this week.
During the Dodgers’ whole title run last season, Freeman, the current World Series MVP, persevered despite suffering a severe injury to the same ankle. Then, in December, following the Dodgers’ championship victory, Freeman underwent surgery to repair his ankle.
However, Freeman is still less than four months after the operation, and it seems that his shower mishap was a significant enough setback that he will now need to spend time in the intensive care unit. The eight-time MLB All-Star Freeman’s first goal was to make a comeback to the Dodgers’ lineup on Wednesday. However, that didn’t happen, and Freeman won’t be able to return for at least another week.
The Dodgers have won every game without Freeman in the lineup and are still undefeated on the season, so they haven’t been suffering too much in his absence. However, given his age and the considerable wear and tear on his ankle over the past six months or so, Freeman may have to deal with this problem throughout the duration of the 2025 campaign.
