Kurt Angle responds to the moment

The ‘Angle Lock’ submission has earned Kurt Angle numerous titles during his in-ring career. ‘The Olympic Gold Medalist’ recently came across the Tweet in which Harry Maguire seemingly had a Brighton player in a submission hold.

Angle wrote, “This is what happens when you drink whole milk and eat Snx-Smart Protein Bites @physicallyfitnu #itstrue“

One of the fans replied, “This is embarrassing for United. It even reached Kurt Angle.”

Kurt Angle is currently retired from the in-ring competition. Meanwhile, Manchester United started their 2022/23 Premier League campaign on a disappointing note. The Red Devils endured a miserable loss to Brighton in the season opener.

The lackluster defense cost Manchester United a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford as Erik Ten Hag’s reign as the boss begins with a defeat. Graham Potter’s side propelled into a 2-0 lead courtesy of a first-half brace from Pascal Gross and were unfortunate not to have a penalty when Martinez ran into Danny Welbeck after the break.

Alexis Mac Allister’s own goal halved United’s deficit, but they failed to equalise. It was a poor performance from the hosts, with the superstar Cristiano Ronaldo starting the game from the bench. The forward came on in the second half but made little impact.

Captain Maguire and Martinez were perhaps fortunate to get the nod ahead of Ten Hag’s other defensive options. Fellow centre-back Raphael Varane was left on the bench, while Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones didn’t make the 20-man squad.

“We went into the game positive, we had a good pre-season and it was the worst possible start to be 2-0 down at half-time at Old Trafford,” Maguire told Sky Sports at full-time. “We got a goal back but we huffed and puffed a bit and it’s a bad start for us.

“We started pretty well and on the front foot and as a team we had control. Then we conceded the first goal and that knocked us badly. We need to look at not letting that first goal set us back as much as it did. It was a nightmare start to be 2-0 down at half-time.”

Baron Corbin says why Kurt Angle did not want him in his farewell match

Baron Corbin recently joined in for an interview with TalkSport, and he stated why Angle would have wanted to face Cena in his farewell match. It is to be noted that John Cena had made his huge main roster debut against Angle on June 27, 2002, on an episode of SmackDown.

This is the reason why Angle wanted to retire after a match against the 16-time World Champion. Cena had even inducted Angle into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Corbin said that the history between Cena and Angle would have been apt for the two legends to have a match at WrestleMania. ‘The Lone Wolf’ further stated that having the last match against someone like Angle or Cena is ‘phenomenal’.

“Yeah, everyone is going to have a dream match for their final match and I can’t ever imagine Kurt Angle was like ‘I want to wrestle Baron Corbin for my last match in WWE!’ He had history, he was Cena’s first match in WWE and I understand that completely. Who wouldn’t want to go out wrestling John Cena as their last match? It’s a phenomenal thing to do if you’re in the ring with him or Kurt – doesn’t matter,” said Baron Corbin.

It was Baron Corbin who emerged victorious that night as Kurt Angle competed in his Farewell Match at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’.

Kurt Angle had previously revealed that he had expressed his desire to face former nemesis, John Cena, as that would have concluded their storyline which had started long back when Cena had made his debut.

“I wanted it to be my retirement match, and I’d loved to have wrestled John because you know I started out his career, and I wanted him to end mine, and you know, I was hoping that he would put me in that match, but it just didn’t happen,” said the WWE Hall of Famer.

Angle had also revealed that though he did not reach out to Cena, he had pitched the idea to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon but that did not materialize, eventually Corbin being named his final opponent.

Gable Steveson is not happy with Kurt Angle comparison

Steveson’s switch to pro-wrestling has certainly excited the fans but they started comparing him to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, with some saying he should be given a gimmick similar to Angle, with theme music similar to him as well. Gable recently responded to the comments in a tweet and he wants to make an identity for himself.

“I’m not the next Kurt Angle.. I’m Gable Steveson.. Now, Please Enjoy The Show.. Thank you! [popcorn emoji],” wrote Gable, who is a lifelong pro wrestling fan.

Some fans had also pointed to an Instagram post Gable made back on August 28. The photo shows the 21-year-old in his Team USA singlet, with a caption that calls himself a modern-day Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson signs with WWE

WWE has announced the signing of heavyweight freestyle wrestler Gable Steveson. He has responded to the news too. As it turns out, the 21-year-old Olympic gold medalist has been signed to an exclusive multi-year agreement with Vince McMahon’s company, following long-running speculation over the move. He is set to join his brother, Bobby Steveson, who signed with WWE last month as part of the most recent Performance Center class.

The signing of Gable represents WWE’s first-ever NIL (names, image, likeness) deal. He will join the company while also defending his NCAA title for the University of Minnesota.

Here is WWE’s official statement regarding the deal:

“WWE signs Olympic gold medalist and reigning NCAA wrestling champion Gable Steveson to an exclusive agreement. In the company’s first-ever NIL deal, Steveson will join the WWE roster while defending his NCAA title for the University of Minnesota”

UFC had shown interest in roping Steveson but he chose to join WWE instead. He was also featured in the ring at SummerSlam alongside fellow Olympic gold medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock.

Kurt Angle sheds light on the incident

It is not unknown that WWE prepares the promo scripts for the talents which they have to memorize before the segments. They usually have enough time to prepare for the promo. We know how WWE makes some changes to the programming even in the final minutes prior to the segments it was something similar in the case of Kurt Angle.

While speaking on his podcast, Kurt Angle spoke about pre-tapes and promos and noted how he always loved taking up challenges as a performer. Angle then recalled that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon once created a long script before the star was scheduled to go out to the ring.

Kurt Angle reveals that he was handed Vince McMahon’s 3-page promo script was handed by former head writer Brian Gerwitz, and ‘The Olympic Medalist’ was successful in cutting the promo without any troubles.

Angle wasn’t sure how he pulled off the huge task but added that he always found ways to tackle and complete gigantic assignments in the WWE. Here is what he said:

“I loved challenges. Anytime that Vince, you know one time Vince gave me a promo, and it was three pages typed. And he gave it to me, Brian Gewirtz gave it to me 10 minutes before I went out there, and I remembered all of it. I don’t know how, but I accepted the challenge, and I told them, ‘I’ll get it done, don’t worry.’ And I did it. I did it; I don’t know how. You figure out a way in pro wrestling.”

Kurt Angle had also stated that he loved the pre-taped moments as they helped shape his gimmick in the WWE.  He added: “Yeah, I think that I did really well in the pre-tapes. I thought that I remembered all the material.I just enjoyed the pre-tapes much more as it enhanced my character and gave me more character development, and that’s what I liked.”

Kurt Angle reveals a conversation with Ric Flair

Kurt Angle revealed that it was Ric Flair’s advice that made him choose WWE over WCW back when he was considering a switch in 1996.

Ric Flair had tried to recruit Kurt Angle to pro-wrestling in 1996 and had told him to join WWE instead of WCW. Angle revealed that Flair often tells him that he saved his career by suggesting him to join WWE.

While speaking on his podcast The Kurt Angle Show, the former Olympian revealed that Ric Flair’s conversation with him in 1996 had a major part to play in helping Angle reach his true potential. Angle admitted that had he joined WCW, his career would not have taken off like it did in WWE.

Kurt Angle said: ‘‘Oh God, Ric brings it up all the time. He actually rubs it in my face: ‘Hey, I saved your career by going to WWF instead of WCW. But Ric was right. I think if I went to WCW, they probably wouldn’t have utilized me like WWE did. I’m very grateful for Ric’s advice. He directed me in the right direction.”

Kurt Angle sheds praise on Ric Flair

5-time WWE champion Kurt Angle also praised Ric Flair and said that being a pro-wrestler he thinks about his opponent and he is not selfish at all. He further stated that The Nature Boy is not a political person and always tries to look out for people. Angle further said that Flair is one to always give the right advice.

Angle had finally joined WWE in 1998 and instantly became one of the biggest stars during the attitude era. However, Flair was not a part of WWE at the time and it was only after the company purchased WCW that Flair returned to WWE in 2001.

‘The Nature Boy’ recently had requested for a release from Vince McMahon’s company and he was granted a release. He made an appearance at AAA TripleMania, being at the corner of his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo, who unsuccessfully challenged Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship.

‘The Notorious One’ had sustained a horrendous leg injury near the end of the opening round and the referee awarded a a TKO victory to The Diamond.

Kurt Angle trolls Conor McGregor for his ‘broken freakin’ ankle

Kurt Angle is very popular for completing his Olympic match with a ‘broken freakin’ neck’ that earned him The Olympic Gold Medal. This had played a major role in his gimmick while his time in WWE.

The Hall of Famer seems to have quite a casual approach towards the injury of Conor McGregor, who suffered a broken tibia.

The Olympic Hero sent out a Tweet to remind everyone that he won the Gold Medal at the Olympics with a “broken freakin neck,” but Conor couldn’t finish the fight. According to Kurt Angle it is not a big of a deal that everyone is making out of it.

Kurt Angle wrote: “So…. @TheNotoriousMMA broke his freakin’ ankle this past weekend. Big deal. I break my ankle all of the time. I broke my ankle this morning and I’m jumping around right now!! I even won a gold medal with a broken freakin neck too.”

Conor McGregor will be out for several months

The fight did not go the way McGregor had imagined. Following his fight with Poirier, The Irishman was down on the mat and went on to threaten to murder Dustin Poirier and his wife Jolie in their sleep.

He had been trash talking about Poirier’s family for quite some time and that idea has been even lambasted by UFC President Dana White.

Dana White had confirmed in the post-show press conference that McGregor suffered a broken tibia and he underwent surgery the next day. He is likely to miss the remainder of the 2021 campaign and will not be back to the octagon any time soon.

The talks of a fourth fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier is currently underway and we will have to see if it takes place when The Irishman makes his return.

KURT ANGLE HAD A RISING PAINKILLER ADDICTION NO ONE KNEW ABOUT

From his debut at WWE to 2006, “The Olympic Hero” and Vince McMahon were pretty close, but the relationship soured since 2006, when the former starting becoming more and more erratic, possibly due to painkiller addiction. He started sending his boss threatening messages in which he noted he was going to beat him up. The reason was a rising painkiller addiction, which no one knew about.

Despite being injured a lot of times, he could not take much time off as many other talents were injured. Thus, he had to rely on painkillers and mentally he was worsening. He kept texting McMahon with the threatening messages, and seeing the boss ignore them completely and never reply to them made him even more angry. When he was drafted to the new ECW brand, his physical and mental health were further worse.

“Up until 2006 we were pretty close but my behavior became erratic. I started behaving out of control, sending Vince text messages threatening to beat him up. I had the painkiller problem that nobody knew about, I was injured so much and I couldn’t take any time off because a lot of the other talent were injured, a lot of the top guys. I was kind of there to keep the product intact and mentally I was just losing it. I was texting Vince more and more and he wouldn’t respond and that pissed me off even more. After I joined ECW it got even worse,” he said.

ANGLE WOULD STAY AWAY FROM WWE FOR A PERIOD OF 11 YEARS

After leaving the company in 2006, Angle would not be seen in a WWE ring again until more than a decade later in 2017, when he would be inducted to the WWE Hall Of Fame and placed as the General Manager of Monday Night Raw. He would later stage an in-ring comeback, taking part in a number of matches before retiring after losing a match to Baron Corbin.

KURT ANGLE WENT TO NJPW BECAUSE OF BROCK LESNAR

On the latest episodes of his The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic Gold medalist recalled the time when Lesnar and Goldberg left the company in 2004. Lesnar went on to wrestle at New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) for some time before leaving under less than favourable circumstances.

It was Lesnar who recommended him to work at NJPW, where he managed to dethrone him and win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. After the brilliant match, “The Beast Incarnate” requested the new Champion to speak to the journalists the prospect of a rematch between the duo.

Later, Angle came to know that Lesnar refused to lose the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to anyone, and asked the company to bring Kurt Angle to face him if they wanted him to lose the title. He was making a lot of money in each of his title matches, and wanted to make even more through a rematch against the new Champion.

“I didn’t know at the time, but I heard Brock was making a ton of money on these matches, he was remaining the champion as long as he could and then they wanted to take the title off of him so he wanted to do the match. He wouldn’t do it with just anybody, so he told New Japan if you bring Kurt Angle over, I’ll do the job for him. They brought me over, he did the job for me and then he wanted to have a rematch so he can make more money,” he commented.

ANGLE BELIEVES THAT FOR BROCK LESNAR, PASSION IS SECONDARY TO MONEY

“The Olympic Hero” continued stating that Lesnar was all about monetary gains. He was a stern businessman, and everything he wished for revolved around money. Passion was secondary to his financial interests.

“Brock is all about money. He’s a very stern businessman. Everything revolved around money for him. It’s money first, passion second,” Angle stated.

Kurt Angle reveals Randy Orton’s idea to bypass the test suspensions

During ‘The Kurt Angle Show’ on AdFreeShows.com, The Olympic Gold Medalist revealed that WWE stars had to get tested for drugs multiple times every year. The talents who used to fail the tests were charged a fine and were suspended.

Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam had found a loophole to save themselves from getting suspended. They would inquire about how many tests WWE conducted every year and what the fine was for failing the tests. They then paid the money to get away from suspensions.

Kurt Angle said:

“Well, I think that the WWE, what they are doing right now, and I don’t know if it has changed since I left, but they would just fine the wrestler. So, you’re going to get drug tested seven times a year. If you’re going to fail seven times a year, and this is one of the wrestlers, this is what I heard one of the wrestlers say, and I might as well say who it is, Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam.”

He added: “They basically told the company that they would, ‘How much were the fines, and how many drug tests would I do this year?’ So, they wanted to pay the money upfront (laughs).”

Though they were able to avoid the suspension but they would still get fined. However, there are some serious consequences to get caught with drugs.

Rob Van Dam’s fond for drugs is not unknown and he was once pulled over by the cops with the drug materials. The WWE Hall of Famer was the biggest attraction back in 2006 after his transition from ECW to WWE.

He had held ECW Championship as well as WWE Championship. But as a punishment, RVD was stripped off the titles by Vince McMahon due to the incident.

RVD was recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame while Randy Orton is currently performing on Monday Night Raw as he had formed a tag-team with Riddle, calling the teamas RK-Bro

Kurt Angle reveals the reason behind choosing Vince McMahon

Kurt Angle is one the greatest stars who has worked for WWE. He has had great accomplishments throughout his career. While speaking on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, he was asked to pick a star who he thinks is the best wrestler in the history. He then revealed it was Vince McMahon and explained his pick.

The Olympic Gold Medalist explained that Vince has the quality that he could draw his viewers’ attention when he wrestled and also his body language would draw attention.

He said: “What you see on TV with Vince [McMahon] isn’t the real Vince .He likes to ham it up a bit and you know, that’s his thing. He’s the best wrestler in history. When he wrestles, everybody watches. He does these looks with his eyes when he’s going crazy and he’s mad.”

Vince McMahon who is the chairman and CEO of WWE has been portraying a heelish boss for the majority of his on-screen career. He has wrestled on multiple occassions and even at this age we could often see him doing things that guys of his age can’t execute.He has squared off against top names of the company including the likes of Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair.

Kurt Angle made his comeback to WWE in 2017 and was inducted into the same year’s Hall of Fame. He was then given the role of General Manager of RAW. However, he said that his expectations were high and WWE did not meet them. He was questioned if he was happy about his last run in WWE.

He said that even when he took a year off he was consistently wrestling in the indies and WWE could have put him out of wrestling. But WWE had other plans for Angle that had disappointed him.

He said: “Yes and no [I was happy with my last run].If they would’ve started me out wrestling when I returned, I was ready. I was wrestling consistently. Even when I took a year off, I went on the indie circuit and kept myself busy, kept myself in shape because I knew WWE was gonna call on me and so yeah, I was a little disappointed.”

He further said he had expected a title run but he was no where near it. Kurt Angle announced his retirement in 2019 following his last match against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35.
