However, still, Houston coach Kelvin Sampson got ejected from the court for losing his cool during the game. The Cougars displayed an excellent team performance and kept their defense intact throughout the game but still, it was not enough to keep their head coach Kelvin Samson happy.

Sampson got vexed over the decisions made by the match officials and was infuriated by their negligence. Kelvin Sampson appeared to get upset after a no-call from referee Ray Natili on a push-off of Jamal Shead. Sampson was clearly annoyed by the decision from the official and rushed towards Ray Natili, yelling and shouting at him. Cougars players and Sampson’s associate head coach  Quannas White tried to restrain him but their efforts were going in vain as  Kelvin Sampson seemed too agitated to be restrained.

Kelvin Sampson became a fan favourite for displaying winner mentality

This action from Sampson impressed the crowd at Fertitta Center as he walked off the court receiving a standing ovation and the crowd chanting his name.

Kellen Sampson, head coach-in-waiting and UH’s lead assistant served as acting head coach for the remainder of the game against the Cowboys. Kelvin Samson declined to open up on the referee’s actions at the post-game press conference as he stated that if he spoke his mind about the state of refereeing he would be fined at least 25000 dollars.

Jamal Shead stears Kelvin Sampsons Houston Cougars to victory

Cougar’s Point guard Jamal Shead was the protagonist in their win against the Oklahoma State Cowboys as he produced 23 points and 4 assists in that game, thanks to him Cougars built a 19-point lead by halftime.

Oklahoma State Mike Boynton Jr. said after the game

“Jamal Shead played like an All-American—first-team All-American, to be clear—and the player of the year. He was not going to be denied tonight on either end. Hats off to them. Our guys competed, we just couldn’t match what they had.”

Houston Cougars are in a great run of form as they have won 20 matches out of the 23 they have played and are yet to lose at home. Kelvin Samson’s uncompromising and winner mentality is playing a big part in the Houston Cougars’ impressive form.
