The Superheavyweight Showdown

In the Superheavyweight category, Georgi Tsvetkov faced off against his opponent, Alex Kurdecha. Both athletes are renowned for their power and determination. However, during their match, it was visible that something was not right with Tsvetkov.

The Unfortunate Injury of Georgi Tsvetkov

While the exact details of Tsvetkov’s injury remain undisclosed(some people speculate that it was from a bathroom injury), it was evident that he was in pain. The injury significantly affected his performance, and rendered him unable to use his leg drive. As a result, he couldn’t use his overall arm strength. Despite his best efforts, Tsvetkov couldn’t overcome the challenge posed by Kurdecha.

The reason why Georgi lost to Alex Kurdecha. Tommorow is surgery.

Georgi Tsvetkov’s revelation about the injury sheds light on the physical demands of professional arm wrestling. These athletes push their bodies to the limit, and sometimes unpredictable injuries can unfortunately undo months of preparation.

Ultimately, Alex Kurdecha emerged victorious in the Superheavyweight category, securing a win for the East. Tsvetkov’s injury was a setback for the West, as he was considered one of their strongest contenders.

The main attraction of the night was the Georgian hulk Saginashvili’s rematch with Devon. Last time Larratt was unable to stop the Hulk but ever since the Canadian armwrestler has been unstoppable, winning matches against opponents like Ermes Gasparani, Evgeny Prudnyk, Denis Cyplenkov, and others.

As the arm wrestling community reflects on East vs West 12, we wish Georgi Tsvetkov a swift recovery. His courage to compete despite the injury is commendable, and we hope to see him back in action soon.

Round 2 ends up in a strap match, but the match looks exactly like the first round as Betkili takes his opponent’s hand towards the pin pads. In the straps, Betkili flash pins Talgat Aktaev. From the looks of it, Talgat wasn’t ready but the ref awards it to Oniani.

Round 3 ends up in a hook war, as Talgat stops multiple attempts of Oniani attacks, but it wasn’t enough as Oniani bleeds Talgat dry and pins him.

Result: Betkili Oniani defeats Talgat Aktaev 3-0.

Petro Marharint defeats Nugzari Chikadze 3-2

Round 1: Tremendous energy from Nugzari. He is hyped and along with him, the entire arena is hyped. Nugzari toprolls him and gets a 1-0 lead in this match.

Round 2: This ends completely different from the first round. Petro pins him, but the referee calls it a foul on Nugzari. The match starts again and it seems that Nugzari wasn’t ready for the match to start, but somehow the Georgian recovers and manages to make this a hook war and ultimately manages to pin the Ukrainian.

Round 3: The match goes into a referee grip as neither fighter manages to make a grip. Petro gets a huge rally and hooks the Georgian off the center and takes his hand down to the pin pad, but the Georgian shows tremendous grit, but it wasn’t enough as the Ukrainian manages to pin him and make it 2-1 heading into the fourth round.

Round 4: This round ends with an elbow foul from the Georgian. It seems like Nugzari has emptied his gas tank and is struggling, but the grit he has shown can’t be counted out. However, the endurance seems to be gone as the Ukrainian star Petro pins Nugzari with relative ease to make the match 2-2 going into the fifth round.

Round 5: The round stars with a hook war. Petro takes Nugzari’s hands off the center. The Georgian uses his bicep strength to stop the Ukrainian attack, but it ends up in vain as Petro manages to pin him to win the match 3-2.

As soon as the referee starts the match, Tarasaitis controls the center of the table and lets Arthur know that he is in control here. As Mindaugas goes for the pin, there’s an elbow fould from Artur. As the referee restarts the match, we see a level change from Artur where he deploys a killer hook and then he showcases his amazing side pressure to pin Mindaugas and take the first round.

Round 2: This round immediately goes into the strap. However, this round is a carbon copy of the first round as Artur controls the hands and takes the hook to ultimately pins Tarasaitis.

Round 3: Heading into the third round, Arthur is leading it 2-0. It’s the story of the night as Tarasaitis is unable to use any gameplan because as soon as the match starts, Arthur control’s the fingers and sinks in a hook to ultimately pin his opponent again. It’s 3-0 in a best of seven match-up.

Round 4: Mindaugas has to do something different if he is to change the course of the match and defend his lightweight title.

Round 5: It’s the similar situation as the previous round. Arthur gets into a dominant hook position and this time around, Tarasaitis is trying his best to defend the hook, but Makarov manages to pin him and only to be called it an elbow foul. As the referee starts the match again, Makarov drives his hook towards the pin to ultimately win the match.

Kamil pulls an absolute shocker as he transitions into an shoulder press to pin Tobais.

Round 2: Heading into Round 2, Kamil is leading the match 1-0. Tobais makes a comeback in style as he flash pins Kamil to make it even at 1-1. Absolute display of raw power by the Swedish.

Round 3: The pressure seems to get to Kamil as he commits a foul. Another foul from Kamil and he loses the round.

Round 4: Back to back fouls in Round 3 means the Swedish star Tobais Sporrong is leading 2-1. The pressure is on as it’s taking quite a bit of time for both pullers to establish a grip. As soon as the referee lets go, Kamil transitions into a press which makes it extremely difficult for Tobais to defend. As he involves his shoulders to get proper strength, Kamil pins Tobias to win the round.

Round 5: Heading into this round, both guys are 2-2. As soon as the referee lets go, Tobias absolutely flash pins Kamil, but the referee rules it a foul because of false start. The referee restarts the match and this time around Kamil commits a foul (shoulder).

The pressure seems to be building up on Schoolboy because the match will go to a strap and he already has a foul on him and an another foul would mean losing two consecutive rounds.

Arkona makes a huge rally as he toprolls Schoolboy off the center of the table nullifying his press. The power differential seems to be huge here as Arkona pins Schoolboy.

Round 4: Heading into Round 4, Arkona is enroute for an upset as he is up 2-1. Arkona pins School to ultimately win the match.

Irakli Zirakashvili defeats Sasho Andreev 4-0

Alex Kurdecha defeats Georgi Tsvetkov 3-0

Alizhan Muratov defeats Ermes Gasparini 3-0

Levan Saginashvili defeats Devon Larratt 4-0

In the opening round of KOTT9, Devon Larratt used his side pressure to move Georgi’s hands off the center, however, the Bulgarian used his backpressure to hold his line. To make things worse for Georgi, Devon unleashed a series of taunts and trash talks in the middle of the round. However, Georgi held his own and went for a couple of rallies of his own, but Devon managed to hold him off.

Watch the full match and highlights on Core Sports.

Devon Larratt then adjusted his body to get into the shoulder press position and taunted Georgi mid fight, “Don’t quit Georgi, Don’t quit now. You came here for war,”. However, the Bulgarian went out of steam and Larratt pinned him to take the lead in the first round.

The second round started with both fighters slipping off as the match went into the strap. The second round started off better for Georgi than Round 1. As Devon applied his side pressure, Georgi managed to hold it off to maintain the center position. The Bulgarian then went on a couple of rallies of backpressure to move Devon’s hand off the center. However, Devon’s insane back pressure meant that, he was able to fend off all the aggressive rallies to the point where Georgi was just inches off the pad, but wasn’t able to secure a pin. It was only a matter of time before Georgi ran out of steam and Devon got into the shoulder press position to ultimately him.

Larratt continues his domination with some trash talk

“Don’t give up !! Why are you giving up all the time Georgi?,” Devon Larratt exclaimed.

Round 3 was no different to Round 2. Both the armwrestlers went through the exact same position, only for Devon to execute a piledriver to secure a pin. There were couple of strong rallies from Georgi Tsvetkov, but it just wasn’t enough to fend off Devon Larratt.

In Round 4, however, it felt like Devon’s mind games have already taken a toll on Georgi Tsvetkov. While, he had his rallies as usual in the round, he fouled out three times to lose round 4 giving Devon Larratt the win.

Round 5 was just a formality as Devon had already defended his super heavyweight title. But Georgi still came to the table with a small slimer of hope of winning atleast one round against Devon Larratt, but that wasn’t going to be the case as Devon Larratt pinned him to get the win. Georgi didn’t want to continue for the sixth round.

Devon Larratt calls out Levan Saginashvili for a rematch

Following his win at King Of The Table 9, Devon Larratt called out Levan Saginashvili for a rematch in April. “He has been gone for a bit, but in my opinion he is the greatest Armwrestler that has ever lived. The highest peak with John Brzenk and then there’s Levan Saginashvili. As far as I am concerned, no one can be happy with calling themselves super heavyweight division till they defeat Levan Saginashvili. So Levan, last time you hurt me, but I haven’t stopped. I am at a different level now and if you’re 3% worst and I am 3% better, I am gonna destroy you and who knows, even if you’re better, I might destroy you. I will see you very soon Levan, I hope you’re training.” Devon said after his match-up at King Of The Table 9.

Devon Larratt and Levan Saginashvili have previously competed at King Of The Table 4, where Levan defeated Devon 6-0.

“To the Arm wrestling fans who continue to support us. First of all, thank you very much for your continued support and continued belief in us. King of the table 9……. Yes, I can’t believe that it’s already number nine, and we’re getting bigger and better than ever. We’re very excited about this particular card for two main reasons. We are witnessing the return of Larry Wheel’s into the super match format against Leonidas Arkona. He and Leonidas Arkona had a left-handed match, I think, September 30th, where Leonidas beat him. But Leonidas is a lefty. We’re really, really, really excited to see what this match would look like. The second reason is if you notice, we used to do three matches, then we promised the fans we’re going to do five, but this one actually has six. Hopefully next year, we’ll start adding more and more matches. Not too long. We’ll probably stick to a seven, eight match format. King of the Table 9 is also featuring a female arm wrestling match, which is also very exciting because we’re going to incorporate that a lot as well. Yeah, man, I mean, it’s our end of the year ninth edition,” Don Idrees said.

“I know a lot of people are more excited, probably, about the Vitaly versus Ermes match. People keep saying that the Devon versus Georgi match…… it’s an easy win. It’s an easy this……. But I don’t know, man. If you think about it, Georgi is no joke. Even Devon behind the scenes was saying that it’s not as easy as he is marking it out to be.”

Coresports CEO Don Idrees talks about increase in focus on the Indian market

Coresports CEO also talked about the importance of Indian market and stated that he is in the process of exploring a broadcast deal for the Indian fans.

“We’re in process of next year doing many things differently. Not differently, but we’re adding certain efforts to encourage and help the fans in certain countries where the pay-per-view model may not work or may not be affordable. For example, we are going to really, really, really put efforts and focus into how to get the live content to the Indian arm wrestling community. I don’t know, maybe a TV deal or a broadcast deal or something like that. We don’t know yet. I’m not even sure we should say this publicly, but we need to… Guys, rest assured, we are doing our best for this to become the most global, easily accessible, and reachable piece of content ever.” Don Idrees concluded.
