Drew McIntyre talks about criticism received by Jinder Mahal during WWE title run

Jinder Mahal was previously released by WWE and he made his way back into the company after hard work. He came back with a new and improved gimmick as well as an amazing physique. He received a massive push and eventually defeated Randy Orton at Backlash back in 2017 to become the 50th WWE Champion in history.

It was expected that his fairytale would be embraced by the WWE Universe but that was not the case. Mahal was seen as a lower-card star on the roster at the time, and it was a sudden push that fumed the fans.

Though many fans were impressed by ‘The Modern Day Maharaja’ for his WWE title run. However, majority of them did not accept him as the champion.

Jinder Mahal’s close friend and former stablemate Drew McIntyre opened up on the mistakes with the WWE title run as he joined ET Canada. According to ‘The Scottish Warrior,’  Jinder’s WWE title win was a surprise and that was the reason fans did not back him up. He compared his run with that of Mahal as his run was built up for a long time.

Drew McIntyre said:

“And with the match with Jinder, I’m excited to show just how much he has grown over the past few years. When he won the title, it was a huge opportunity. I do think he did a good job with it, but it came out of nowhere. And I think that’s why nobody really accepted it to the level of they’ve accepted mine.”

He added: “He’s growing so much in the ring over the years, but also confidence-wise and thinking as a top-level performer-wise. And we’re going to show that for sure on Saturday at Summerslam.”

McIntyre recently ended his WWE title feud with Bobby Lashley as he failed to reclaim the WWE title from ‘The All Mighty’and is currently feuding with Mahal. They are set to lock horns at Saturday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Braun Strowman apparently apologized to Drew McIntyre

Strowman, who was recently released by WWE due to budget was heavily featured in the main event scene. The Monster Among Men had clashed in a Triple Threat match for the WWE title at WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view, against Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley. It was Lashley who won the match to retain his title.

Braun Strowman had hit a gigantic elbow drop on McIntyre during the match. He recently took to his Instagram handle and posted a video clip of the same. He went on to ask the fans in the caption if The Scottish Warrior po*ped after being hit with the move. He also apologized for working a little stiff.

His caption read: “gravity is a bi*ch sometimes!!!#StiffB**tard #MyBad#330lbs #IWorkSnug #DoYouThinkHePo*ped #Wrastlin”

It was also noted that Strowman had suffered broken ribs during this spot. It was his last match in WWE and he released a few weeks later.

Braun Strowman could return to WWE

The fans were shocked when it was announced that the former WWE Universal Champion was released from his WWE contract. It came as a stunner as he was a main-event star. But, WWE had decided to let him go as he had a staggering $1.2 million per year contract as per the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

It has been reported that WWE are interested in signing Braun Strowman back in the company. This comes after reports stated that AEW are eyeing to bag the huge signings of former WWE stars- CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Strowman is also teasing the fans about his future in pro-wrestling. He had tweeted: “Choices choices choices!!!!!!” on Tuesday.

Strowman is reportedly under a 90-day non-compete clause that will make him a free agent on Tuesday, August 31. WWE have also recently released new Strowman merchandise on WWE Shop and this has led to the fans wondering about the present situation involving Strowman. Though there could be a possibility that is a error on the site but fans are not ruling out a potential return of Strowman to WWE. We will see if The Monster Among Men eventually makes a comeback to the company.

Drew McIntyre wants to face WALTER

The former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is currently involved in a feud with Bobby Lashley who is the current holder of WWE title. They are set to clash at Hell In A Cell pay-per-view inside the demonic structure of ‘Hell in a Cell’ for the ultimate prize in the company.

During the recent interview McIntyre was asked to share his thoughts about the current NXT UK Champion WALTER, and if considers going one on one with him.

McIntyre said it is only a matter of time before they face off, and also revealed that he had actually wanted to wrestle him since right before his return to the WWE.

WALTER has also previously revealed his wish to square off against The Scottish Warrior. Drew McIntyre said: “I can’t wait until it happens, it’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of time. You know, we rolled in the ring a few minutes at Survivor Series. We got into a big man chop battle, you can decide for yourself who won that one, obviously I’m going to be a bit biased.”

Drew McIntyre sheds praise on WALTER

McIntyre said that WALTER is someone who makes everyone believe the wrestling match. He also spoke about his physique and in-ring style.

He said: “But WALTER is just someone who, talk about believability in the ring, you watch a WALTER match and he makes you believe. He’s so big, unique looking, and dominant, with such a believable style.

The former WWE Champion lauded the German wrestler for his work in NXT and for representing European wrestling.

Drew McIntyre recalled seeing WALTER for the first time in wXw event in Germany and straight away wanted to face him in the squared circle.

But he regrets not getting a chance to work with him. But, as he said, it’s only a matter of time when the two top-tier stars cross their paths in WWE.

WALTER’s NXT UK Championship reign recently surpassed two-year in April this year which is a great feat for the German International. We will see when WALTER and Drew McIntyre collides in WWE ring.

MONDAY NIGHT RAW SAW A CONTRACT SIGNING SEGMENT FOR THE MATCH BETWEEN BOBBY LASHLEY AND DREW MCINTYRE

The ladies have been appearing on WWE Raw as part of “The All Mighty”‘s entourage and has already been subject to some controversy, when a social media user found a parallel between them and the ladies, indicated to be prostitutes, brought to the ring by The Godfather during the Attitude Era. MVP was quick to talk back to the user in a heavy comment, which was criticized as well.

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured a contract signing segment for the WWE Championship match at the upcoming Hell In A Cell pay-per-view event. McIntyre wanted the title match to be inside the Hell In A Cell structure, to which the reigning WWE Champion and MVP agreed.

At Raw Talk, when he was asked by R-Truth about never being in a Hell In A Cell match before, Lashley commented: “What’s the difference? What does a cage have anything to do with the outcome? I put him to sleep at WrestleMania and several times after that. I just get to kick Drew’s ass inside a cage this time.”

MCINTYRE PUT AN END TO THE CELEBRATION OF LASHLEY AND THE LADIES

After the signing was over, Lashley decided to celebrate with the ladies. The celebration angered McIntyre to a point that the challenger picked up his Celtic Sword, a constant part of his entrance get-up, and sliced the contact signing table in two, putting an end to the joy.

The WWE Champion accused McIntyre of disrespecting the ladies. “He smashes the table. What did that do? That right there is the difference between Drew and me. I ain’t going to do small barks like that, I’m above all that,” he said.

MVP went on to add his own statement, calling McIntyre a savage with no sense of class and outcomes: “Drew McIntyre is a crass, he’s a savage and has no class. He keeps asking for the hurt over and over again. They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Tyson Fury and his son met Vince McMahon and Rey Mysterio

The British boxer Tyson Fury and his son made their presence felt backstage at WrestleMania Backlash. It is needless to say that The Gypsy King and WWE share strong ties. Fury has been associated with the company since 2019 and also made his pro-wrestling debut at the WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view that year.

WWE shared some exclusive backstage photos from WrestleMania Backlash on their Twitter handle. The pictures saw Tyson Fury and his son posing with the likes of Rey Mysterio and WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

Tyson Fury to make his WWE return soon?

As mentioned earlier, Fury had his in-ring debut in WWE against Braun Strowman when he won the contest by count-out at Crown Jewel. It was reported that Fury had earned £11.9 million ($14 million) for his participation.

Fury had also made an appearance on the 8 November 2019 edition of Smackdown at the Manchester Arena when he shaking hands with Strowman and joined forces to go head to head with the B-Team (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel) and defeated them.

As it turns out his opponent upon his return could be the former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. They have been taking back and forth shots at each other on social media and teasing a huge bout. The Scottish Warrior had even teased a marquee match of Battle of Britain considering they both hail from the UK. There are huge chances of the match taking place down the line.

McIntyre recently spoke about the chances of the match being held. He said: “100 percent I see it happening. I’ve got a vision of how I’d like to see it happen. I don’t make the decisions. That’s for others to talk about behind closed doors. But I know somewhere like the UK it would be huge business.”

Tyson King is set to collide with Anthony Joshua on August 14 this year in Saudi Arabia. The fans are eagerly waiting for The Gypsy King to step foot inside the squared circle once again.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently noted that WWE has put their COVID-19 testing process through a “minor change.” It was previously mandated that all talent had to show up on the day before television tapings for testing. This was planned because they could get tested and know whether they pass or fail in time for the show. Things have changed now.

As per the reports many talents have been vaccinated on the roster. Those who are coming from outside Tampa get tested in the hotel before the show at 8:30 AM and this protocol has not changed.

However, if someone lives in Orlando, they can avoid driving to Tampa the day before the show and can get tested at the Performance Center instead.They can wait to get the results before arriving at the building around 1 p.m. for the show.

This new policy has helped those who live in Orlando as they can go home for a few hours to get ready before driving to Tampa. For those in NXT, they can test in the morning and also in the day as well.

Many people in WWE have been vaccinated as of yet but many more are yet to get it. But it is a good sign that the company is maintaining the protocols.

WWE had been dealing with a lot of cases of COVID-19 in the company.Several stars had tested positive for the virus. Stars like former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and former Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair were also sidelined due to the injury. They had missed on a major duration of programming.

WWE has been doing a great job so far dealing with the virus.They had recently allowed fans in the attendance for the first time in one year.

The fans were allowed for their flagship pay-per-view WrestleMania 37 when they sold out as many as 25,000 seats for the event. We will see when the company decides to get the capacity crowd back, something AEW has already implemented for their upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view this month.

Drew McIntyre reveals how he pronounced the word

During a recent interview Rick Ucchino and Kevin Kellam on The inSide Kradle podcast he recalled the time from his childhood when he was aged ten and read an edition of Percy Pringle’s (Paul Bearer) book, Inside Secrets on How You Can Enter the Exciting World of Pro Wrestling. He had learned some backstage words from the book.

The Scottish Warrior had found the term of ‘kayfabe’ which means the portrayal of staged events in the wrestling industry that are regarded as ‘true’ events. McIntyre revealed that he used to hilariously pronounce as “kafabé” (ka-faa-bee). McIntyre would practice it at school when he was playing with his friends.

The former WWE Champion said:

“I’ve got my secrets, I’ve got my backstage words, how things work. I’ve gotta keep ‘kafabé’ because I don’t know its pronounced kayfabe at the time. The secrets of wrestling. So I keep my book in a briefcase locked on top of my wardrobe and I go to school and play along with everybody at school which is a 100% legit and I’m like, ‘Oh yeah! Yeah yeah! That’s right!’ But in my head I’m like, ‘I’m totally keeping kafabé right now!”

Drew McIntyre revealed that he continued to use the term “kafabé” till the age of 15 until he joined a wrestling school. It was here that he learned the proper pronunciation. The Scottish Warrior had sighed a relief that he never said it out loud before knowing how it is pronounced.

He said: “They didn’t spell it phonetically. I was just like, ‘Oh! kafabé! Ok cool!’ I remember the first time I heard how it was pronounced, I think it was at wrestling training, I was about 15 or something, I was like, ‘Goodness! Thank goodness I didn’t say that out loud.'”

Drew McIntyre recently go his new book, titled – “A Chosen Destiny: My Story” released on the April 22 this year. He is set to clash with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman with the title on the line at WreslteMania Backlash on May 16.

Drew McIntyre reveals why WWE Universe supported him

Drew McIntyre is having a great run in WWE. He has been on top of his career since eliminating Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match last year. He further achieved his dreams at WrestleMania 36 when he went on to become the WWE Champion by defeating The Beast.

He has come to the stature of top stars of WWE like John Cena and Roman Reigns. He got great reaction from the crowd when he won the title and WWE Universe has cheered him for the win.

During the podcast Roberts asked what made McIntyre different from Roman Reigns and John Cena, who had struggled to get a positive feedback from the crowd. McIntyre believes it was all because of his journey from getting released in 2017 and bouncing back stronger to claim the WWE title.

It was a rough road through which The Scottish Warrior had gone. There has been several ups and downs that he faced despite of having a great physique and in-ring prowess.

But, he was able to achieve his goals as he never gave up on his dreams and the crowd backed him up as they could connect to the former WWE Champion.

He said: “When it comes to the relatability thing, I think the key for me is I went through a bunch of hell. The fans knew I had been through some crap , had to overcome some crap, even as a 6’5, 270 lbs guy. They know this guy never gave up on his dreams, he’s fighting for his dreams. They could relate to that.”

In the Royal Rumble match, McIntyre had eliminated Lesnar and it was huge, given the circumstances of the match. The Beast Incarnate had been dominating since the beginning but McIntyre changed the whole scenario of the match as he eliminated Lesnar.

During the podcast Drew McIntyre also admitted that as he was the one who eliminated Lesnar, WWE Universe gave up him a positive reaction and also when Edge made his much awaited return, the crowd went berzerk.

McIntyre is once again eyeing to reclaim the title as he would face WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman at WrestleMania Backlash on May 16.

Drew McIntyre speaks about a potential fight

Tyson Fury went on a war with the former Universal Champion Braun Strowman at WWE Crown Jewel. Their match was widely hyped and he had defeated Strowman at the event.

That match had certainly given him a boost to his confidence for working in the squared circle. Apparently now he is eyeing to have a battle with McIntyre.

They have been teasing a fight since McIntyre’s victory at WrestleMania 36 when he captured the WWE Championship. The Gypsy King had issued a challenge to Drew McIntyre which he had accepted.

While speaking to The Big Issue, Drew McIntyre revealed that he regularly gets messages from Fury on social media and wondered if he should respond to him.

He said: “Tyson Fury is stalking me. It’s the most bizarre sentence. I’d wake up every day and I’ve got another message on social media from Tyson Fury. Maybe I should answer him.”

Drew McIntyre had scripted history at WrestleMania pay-per-view last year as he became the first-ever British WWE Champion in history.

He went on to capture the title for a second time when he defeated Randy Orton on Monday Night RAW. His reign came to an end when he lost against The Miz at WWE Fastlane.

Drew McIntyre also said that when he would win the WWE Championship again, he would fly to his home and visit Tyson Fury’s house to set up a match between them.

He said: “When I’m able to win back my WWE title we’ll fly back home, get an open top bus at the top of Scotland. I’m going to make my way down Scotland, [and have a] big celebration all the way down into England. Get to Fury’s house, set ourselves up a little match.”

The Scottish Psychopath went on to the laud the Gypsy King. He said that Fury has a genuine love for wrestling and he’s such an entertainer. He also teased the match to be on ‘Battle of Britain’ theme.

McIntyre has a firm belief that the match could set a record by matching the attendance of SummerSlam 1992 when 80,000 fans were in attendance at Wembley Stadium in London.

It is to be seen if we would ever get to see such a high intensity fight. Whenever it happens fans would be certainly delighted.

Braun Strowman to face Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley

The latest edition of WWE Monday Night Raw saw addition of Braun Strowman into the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash as Bobby Lashley would defend his title against him and former WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre.

The former WWE Universal Champion was added into the match after he was able to defeat Drew McIntyre in the main-event of the night.

Earlier in the night, Strowman and McIntyre had teamed up to take on T-Bar and Mace and they were successful once again as they lost against the former RETRIBUTION members.

The Monster Among Men became furious with the outcome and delivered his signature Running Powerslam to The Scottish Warrior.

This set up the main event match between the two with the stipulation being that if Strowman would win, he would be included in the WWE title match.

In that bout, Strowman got the better of McIntyre in the hard hitting battle. But, it is to be noted Strowman got some help after an interference by WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and MVP.

The Monster Among Men has made things extremely difficult for Lashley now as he has a huge task to defeat him. The Triple Threat match would make the match more interesting as Lashley could lose the title without even getting pinned.

This is Braun Strowman’s first shot at WWE title

Braun Strowman has finally got an opportunity to take a shot at the WWE Championship which is also for the first time in his career. Following his debut in the main roster he never pursuaded the WWE title.

He has held other championships previously and did justice to them. It is to be seen whether he does the same should he win the match at WrestleMania Backlash.

Whatever be the outcome it is certain the WWE Universe would get a treat when the three powerhouses collide for the WWE Championship.
