Bronny James’ genes run strong (at least in one regard).

The Los Angeles Lakers sophomore Bronny had a nice game in Summer League play on Monday night. Against the rival LA Clippers at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev., Bronny finished with a team-high 17 points on an efficient 6/10 shooting from the field (including 3/5 from deep). He also had five rebounds and five assists, albeit in a losing effort as the Lakers fell by a 67-58 final score.

After the game, Bronny was interviewed by NBA TV. Fans were stunned at just how much Bronny sounded like his father LeBron in the clip. One X post even said “close your eyes” (in reference to how you would probably think that it was LeBron talking if you just closed your eyes and listened instead).

Bronny is still only 20 years old, but his voice already appears to be nearly as deep as that of his 40-year-old father. While Bronny is just 6-foot-3 to LeBron’s 6-foot-9, the heritage is certainly undeniable in other regards.

Even dating back to his high school days, Bronny was already evoking memories of his dad with some of his show-stopping highlights on the court. Though the highlights have been far less frequent in the NBA for Bronny thus far, it doesn’t take much for him to remind fans that he is indeed a proud member of the James clan.

Fans piled on Steph Curry on Sunday after he had a game to forget against the Houston Rockets.

The Golden State Warriors star was limited to just three points in a 106-96 loss to the Rockets at Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif. Curry shot 1/10 from the field and failed to score a single point in the second half. He also had 4 turnovers in the contest.

For all he did on the floor against Houston, Curry made more noise about his feud with Rockets coach Ime Udoka.

Fans on X could not help but clown Curry for how showing. Many pointed out the fact that Curry had the same number of points Sunday as a certain Los Angeles Lakers player named Bronny James.

James also scored three points in just three minutes of action against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder. Bronny’s three-point make put the exclamation point on the Lakers’ 126-99 win in OKC.

James had not played in two weeks entering Sunday’s Lakers-Thunder game. LeBron’s son came in during garbage time and drained his only shot attempt of the contest.

Nobody is ever going to argue that the younger James is better than Curry while both are still playing in the NBA. But for at least one night, Bronny matched Steph shot-for-shot.

Bronny James is trying his best to make his own name for himself, but even he is admitting that he is affected by the criticism that he gets.

The Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny spoke this week in an extended interview with Joe Vardon of The Athletic. During the interview, Bronny addressed the negativity that he gets from critics, acknowledging that he sees all of it.

“My first thought about everything is I always try to just let it go through one ear and out the other, put my head down and come to work and be positive every day,” said Bronny. “But sometimes it just, it fuels me a little bit. I see everything that people are saying. People think, like, I’m a f–king robot, like I don’t have any feelings or emotions.

“But I just take that and use it as fuel for me to go out, wake up every day and get to the gym early, get my extra work in, watch my extra film every day, get better every day,” Bronny went on. “That’s what [Lakers GM] Rob [Pelinka] wants me to do as a young guy, coming in, playing in the G League, and learning from afar on the bench watching the Lakers play.”

As the son of LeBron James, Bronny, 20, faces constant barbs of nepotism. Those are probably pretty fair too considering that Bronny got a standard roster spot with the Lakers (not even a two-way contract) despite having nothing in his game yet to indicate that he is deserving of one. Through his first 21 NBA appearances, Bronny holds microscopic averages of 1.6 points and 0.4 assists per game on 26/23/73 shooting splits. Though Bronny’s numbers in the G League this season look much better (20.6 points and 5.1 assists per game), he is objectively not an NBA-caliber player at this point in his career.

LeBron, Bronny’s father, hasn’t exactly made things better either. In addition to helping his son join the Lakers, he previously made absurd remarks claiming that Bronny was superior to many current NBA players when he was a youngster. That has simply made Bronny a more vulnerable target and caused the public to exaggerate his difficulties.

Although Bronny’s NBA career is still very much up in the air, the USC product has recently begun to show signs of maturity. It appears like Bronny’s main goal is to (eventually) establish his value by working hard behind the scenes. He recently went viral for his brutal response to a heckler on the road.
