2-time NBA All-Star Baron Davis stepped out of the court eight years ago, but is looking to step into a new arena, as the former guard is reportedly planning to acquire sports clothing and footwear company Reebok, in partnership with American rapper Percy Robert Miller aka “Master P”.

The news was revealed by ESPN’s Eric Woodyard on Twitter, who claimed on Twitter that Master P himself confirmed the same in a recent interview, saying that the rapper would join hands with Baron Davis to purchase Reebok from its parent company Adidas.

Purchasing Reebok together with Baron Davis would be ‘history’, stated Master P

Miller emphasised that it would be a historic step for the company to have African-American ownership, citing that they have been ‘benefited’ by the same people.

“These companies have been benefiting off us, this could be history for this company going Black-owned,” the rapper told Woodyard.

Miller, who himself played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and International Basketball League (IBL) and even penned deals with Hornets and Raptors, also gave an instance if Michael Jordan, who is the face of Nike’s Jordan brand of shoes and sports clothing, would have become the owner of Reebok.

“Imagine if Michael Jordan owned Reebok? That’s what I’m talking about making history,” added Miller.

ALSO READ: Kobe Bryant reportedly wanted to part ways with Nike & start his own shoe brand

Adidas, who acquired Reebok in 2005 for $3.8 billion, has set the asking price in the region of $2.4 billion, as reported by Forbes, Woodyard further claimed, also saying that Baron Davis and himself together are now “financially prepared” after negotiations.

Miller also expressed his desire to see former 76ers legend and 2001 MVP Allen Iverson as the face of the brand, hailing him as the “most elite athlete wearing Reebok.”

“Crown Allen Iverson and give him his righteous icon status for being probably the most elite athlete wearing Reebok. Allen Iverson is Jordan for Reebok. Nobody never gave him the royalties or ownership as the icon for the brand,” Miller acknowledged.
