Sean McVay intends to significantly alter the Rams’ offensive scheme

This upcoming season, Sean McVay intends to rely more on one of the Los Angeles Rams’ less well-known wide outs.

After longtime wide out Cooper Kupp left the Rams, the wideout room was remodeled. To replace Cupp, the team signed Davante Adams, an All-Pro. QB Matthew Stafford’s top two targets for the upcoming season are probably Adams and Puka Nacua.

Wide receiver Tutu Atwell, in addition to Adams and Nacua, may be a more reliable member of the Rams’ offense in the upcoming campaign, McVay recently told reporters. Although Atwell quietly recorded the third-most receiving yards and catches for the Rams last season, the head coach acknowledged that he has not “done a good enough job of utilizing” him.

“When you look at the times when he’s been able to play,” McVay said, via Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper. “Whether that be because some people were out or not, he has produced and he’s delivered, and we’re looking forward to seeing more of that ascension.”

McVay added that he’s likely to feature Atwell in “a lot” of three-receiver sets alongside Nacua and Adams.

The Rams re-signed Atwell to a one-year deal after his fourth season with the team. Atwell caught 42 passes for 569 yards last season. His receptions and receiving yard totals have increased every year he’s been in the league. Based on McVay’s comments, that trend is likely to continue next season.
