Blake Griffin, known for his time in the NBA and his high profile dating life has left an indelible mark on the NBA. From his early days he was a high-flying rookie and even before that he was a savage in front of the camera.

Blake Griffin blamed his ‘White’ genes for not getting in the NBA sooner

In an old interview, Blake jokingly blamed his White genes for not making it into the NBA.

“Why did I have to be half white. Why couldn’t I just be guaranteed to be in the NBA.”

The Rise of Blake Griffin in the Clippers

Drafted first overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2009, Griffin burst onto the scene with a ferocity rarely seen. His combination of power, agility, and flair made him an instant fan favorite. Alongside Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan, Griffin formed the core of “Lob City,” a team known for its alley-oop dunks and highlight-reel plays.

In the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Griffin etched his name in history by leaping over a Kia Optima to slam home a thunderous dunk. The image of him soaring over the car remains one of the most iconic moments in dunk contest lore.

During his time with the Clippers, Griffin showcased his versatility. He could dominate in the paint, knock down mid-range jumpers, and even handle the ball like a guard. His chemistry with Chris Paul led to countless alley-oops, leaving fans in awe.

Trade to the Detroit Pistons

In 2018, Griffin was traded to the Detroit Pistons. Despite injuries, he continued to be a force on the court. His work ethic and determination were evident as he adapted his game to fit the Pistons’ system.

Griffin’s career stats speak volumes: an average of 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. He has been an All-Star six times and was named Rookie of the Year in 2011. His impact extends beyond the numbers; he elevated the game with his creativity and fearlessness.

In addition, Griffin also ventured into the world of entertainment with his movies and his involvement in the Comedy Center Roost

Nikola Jokić becomes the leader of an elite list in the NBA

Nikola Jokić is now the leader of the list that proves his efficiency and impact as a player. To put the record of James and Jokic into perspective, James reached the 13000 mark at the age of 24 years and 301 days, breaking the then-record of the legendary Kobe Bryant, who accomplished it at 26 years and 132 days. He was only shy of the 6000 rebound mark and reached the feat in 2014. By this time, James had amassed a staggering 22820 points and 5722 assists.

However, there are several factors to this. Jokic joined the Denver Nuggets in 2015 but wasn’t a starter until 2017. He mostly came off the bench and became the main focus of the team around 2017. Hence, his statistics skyrocketed. But James was the major focus of the Cleveland Cavaliers from an early age, putting up the numbers. His legendary career has known no bounds and so does Jokic’s.

Nikola Jokić led the Nuggets to the NBA Championship last year and has established himself as one of the best centers of all time. His overall NBA career statistics are 20.5 points per game, 10.6 rebounds per game, and 6.8 assists per game. He has been steadily improving at a rapid rate and his current season has been great. He averages 25.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 9.2 assists. He previously played for Serbian club Mega Basket in the Adriatic Basketball Association before being drafted by the Nuggets in 2015 as the 41st pick in the 2nd round. This has led to Nikola Jokić being labeled as the greatest draft steal in the history of NVA.

13K career points for Nikola Jokić.

More to come from him 📈 pic.twitter.com/TExngLQLpp

His statistics already testify he is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. However, with the rate at which it keeps improving, he is looking at the very top of the scoring, rebound, and assist charts.

Jazz were just 6 points ahead of Spurs in the midst of the 3rd round, when Sexton set himself up with an alley-oop pass to make a 360 turn and dunk the ball. A single mistake could have spoiled the spectacular play from Sexton but he was in no mood for mistakes today as Jazz beat Spurs 130-118 in their stadium, AT&T Centre.

His on-court teammates couldn’t celebrate the wondrous play, given the situation. Even Sexton went back to defend the upcoming play of the Spurs. But the Jazz bench was all up on their feet, full of praise and excitement, except the head coach Will Hardy.

Collin Sexton’s effort makes head coach Will Hardy smile

Will Hardy locked eyes with Collin Sexton as he gave into a smile, indicating praise from his side for the guard. Sexton has been training overtime with Hardy and has improved his playmaking this season. He averaged 2.9 assists per game before this season and it has improved to 3.6 assists per game this season. In his game against Spurs, he scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, and had 6 assists to his name.

Post the game, Collin Sexton laughed and said “You gotta live on the edge sometimes,” and also added “Am I gonna be in trouble?” in remembrance of his coach locking eyes with him.

Hardy was very composed and praised Sexton in his way as he commented “Collin is truly amazing to me. I don’t understand why…I think we were up like four with like 20 minutes left in the game. I don’t know what on earth would make him try that. I also think the fact that he’s 6-foot-1 and pulled that off is wild. The look on his face when he landed indicated that he thought it was both awesome and that he was kind of in trouble.”

Jazz face the New Orleans Pelicans in their game, who sit 7th in the Western Conference. Jazz are currently 12th in the Western Conference and a win would extend their current 3-game win streak.
